Flexball Electronic Throttle Controls offers the latest electronic technology to control marine engines and gearboxes. Extremely responsive and reliable, the Flexball system is an alternative and perfect replacement to the more traditional morse cable or hynautic control systems. The Flexball 4500-ME13 is a system suitable for controlling 1x Mechanical Engine and 1x Electronic Gearbox. It connects via CANBus to 3x Flexball 4500 Single Throttle Station.
The Flexball Electronic Throttle Control has the ability to connect to all makes and models of engines with a mechanical fuel pump or potentiometre control and connects to the Flexball Actuator box located within the engine room using a short Morse Cable. This solution is therefore suitable for all engines from manufacturers including FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technology) Iveco, Caterpillar, Cummins, Volvo, Scania, Yanmar, MAN, MTU, Detroit and others. The gearbox actuation is fully electronic to either 12V or 24V solenoids mounted on the gearbox.
The Flexball 4500-ME13 offers extremely smooth feel and operates providing extreme precision control all the way through the rpm range from idle to full throttle. The feel the the Flexball throttle is much more refined than any hynautics or morse cable system and is a lot more responsive to small adjustments.
The 4500-ME13 system is multivolt 9-32V. The actuator box is mounted within the engine room and connects mechanically to the engine throttle and electronically to the electronic solenoids on the gearbox. It is important to note that whatever voltage is required to the gearbox solenoids is the voltage which the actuator box must receive from the vessel’s battery system. A trolling valve option is also available.
A great function for twin installations, is Flexball can “sync” the two engines together so only one lever is required to operate both engines when cruising and the engine rpm for both port and starboard engines are perfectly matched.
Extremely easy to install and calibrate. Flexball Electronic Throttle Controls can easily be retro fitted to any existing marine engine.
The 4500-ME13 kit includes all components required for connection, except for the morse cable required to connect between the actuator box and the engine throttle, which we advise be custom made to specific length for the vessel.
